VOLVO TO DROP R SPORT LINE

The limited edition S60 R and the V70 R are the fastest, best-handling Volvos ever produced and while they're capable of 0 to 60 mph times in a blistering 5.4 seconds it doesn't look like sales were fast enough to keep the "R Series" line afloat.

Last year, sales were stale and short of the projected numbers Volvo was planning to achieve. With a total of only 1,098 S60R's and 538 V70R's sold, they were really short of the expected 3,800 sales they were hoping for.

With that said and the final numbers in, it looks like the the "R" will now stand for "Relic." It was a fun but short ride for the cars they thought were going to realign Volvo with performance, but a lack of marketing and consumer demand it was only a matter of time before the sinking ship took it's last breath.
