FORD FAIRLANE: IT FINALLY MEETS ITS FATE.

The nameplates “Fairlane” and “LTD” at one point in time were big. Really big. Whereas the names have been dormant in North America, Ford's in Australia have continued to sell the large and plush sedan for some 40 years - till now.
Ford AU now says that it will build its final run of the cars either later this year or in early 2008, ceding the flagship banner to the Fairmont Ghia V-8, which Drive.au correctly refers to as “effectively a tarted-up Falcon.” The Blue Oval is blaming a “significant decline” in the higher-end large vehicles for the demise of both cars.
Wow... another American Icon taking a dirt nap.
