LEBRON JAME BUSTED @ 101 MPH.
LeBron James' 23rd birthday started with the flashing lightbar of a state patrol cruiser in Medina County and ended with flashing cameras in Las Vegas.
The Cavaliers' star was ticketed for driving 101 mph on Interstate 71 at 2:43 a.m. Dec. 30.
James, who lives in Sharon Township, was driving his 2008 white four-door Mercedes with vanity license plates ''KNG OF AK'' southbound on the highway in Brunswick Hills Township when he was stopped. The speed limit on that stretch of highway is 65 mph.
He was cited for speeding.
Cleveland attorney Colin R. Jennings filed a not guilty plea Tuesday in Medina Municipal Court on James' behalf. The case is scheduled for a hearing at 1 p.m. Feb. 11.
James will likely need to reschedule or have his attorney appear for him. The Cavs are due in Orlando to play a game that day.
James' agent Keith Estabrook could not be reached for comment. Other details about the traffic stop were not immediately available.
James' lawyer, Fred Nance, has been in traffic court recently dealing with tickets. James' manager and CEO of his LRMR Marketing company, Maverick Carter, had Nance defend him in Middleburg Heights in July after Carter got his 19th speeding ticket since 1998.
Despite the rocky start to James' birthday, he and girlfriend Savannah Brinson enjoyed a star-studded party in his honor at rapper Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Las Vegas the same day he received the speeding ticket.
