AIR BAGS FOR MOTORCYCLE DRIVERS? YES SIR!
Motorcycle gear manufacturer Dainese has been busy at work testing a new air bag suit which is being specifically built for motorcycle riders. The new air bag system is designed deploy and protect a riders upper chest and neck area and the suit, which is called the D-Air suit, protects areas that are usually left unprotected by traditional safety means, such as the collarbone, neck, and shoulders.
While other air systems have been developed, Dainese claims their model is above and beyond the competition due to the fact that the entire unit is mounted on the rider’s shoulders and back.
So how long does it take to have the bags deploy? It takes only 40 milliseconds for the suit to deploy and is deployed by the D-Air suit which is fitted with accelerometers and gyroscopes. A computer makes sense of an “event” and deploys the bag before the rider hits the ground. Now that's technology.
