1961 Ferrari California Spyder sells for record $10,894,900
U.K. television and radio host Chris Evans bought James Coburn's Ferrari yesterday for a record 7 million euros ($10.9 million) with fees at a sale in the Italian carmaker's hometown of Maranello.
The Nero-black 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder, once owned by the Hollywood actor, had been expected to sell for between 3.2 million euros to 3.6 million euros at the sale conducted by RM Auctions in association with Sotheby's. The previous highest price for a car at auction was $10.7 million with fees, paid for a red Ferrari 250 GTO at Sotheby's Monaco in May 1990, the auction house said.
